Running
03:05

I got legs, got legs on top of my feet. I got ground, Earth is just a blur underneath. I gotta see, gotta see how far I can get. Running hard, haven’t crossed the finish line yet. I got air, I still got air in these lungs. Running hard, ain’t gonna stop ‘til I’m done.

A Chorus Can't Explain
03:25
|

Babe, it’s okay. I’m not going anywhere anytime soon without you. Yeah, okay. I’m afraid, but it feels good to be afraid by your side. Please tell me you just invented that look for me, that look you just gave me. I swear, I swear it saved me. Can I keep you, ‘cause I’ve kept so little and in the middle of a midlife crisis I know I’ll still need you. Goodness gracious. How can I repay you for your patience? Babe, your beauty -- a chorus can’t explain what it does to me, no. Someday we will be our parent’s age. Our youth will fade and turn to gray. “Love like this don’t last,” that’s what they say, but they don’t know us anyway.

Some Place I Once Was
03:14

The skylight reflects in your eyes. You blink and it turns off all the lights for a moment. The taxi window frames you like a painting. It's taking you back to where reality is waiting. You remind me of some place I once was. I'll come back again, but I don't know when. Back home washing dishes in your sink. Watching birds in the backyard, you start to think for a moment, what if you were like them and could fly away, come back when the seasons start to change again?

Finish Line
03:50

Spread thin like dough beneath the rolling pin, she feels the pressure of adulthood start to stretch her. She's just trying to keep it together. She can't regather, feels those hunger hands so greedily kneading at her. One, now two, now three, now four. How many more can she feed? She wonders, "Is there a recipe that in the end will set me free? So tell me, is there a finish line that justifies these trying times?" Worn down like the junkyard cars outside of town, he feels the pacing of the race start to escape him. He knows that the finish awaits him. He's feeling trapped by all the passing traffic speeding by as he gets lapped. One, now two, now three, now four. Can he last? He watches as the future leaves him in the past. He wonders, "Is there a finish line that justifies these trying times? (So tell me) Is there a recipe that in the end will set me free? They can't say when, but it's coming nonetheless. Better or worse, they're praying for the best. And if this was all just a test, what score do they need to pass? There's no one to ask.
